The sou’easter was looking to be very constant all afternoon so a trip down to the Peel Rec. Mark was definitely on the cards. The start line was set just south and outside the harbour entrance and provided a nice leg to Hybers Light. The tide had just peaked and was starting to ebb so there needed to be some thought on where your tack was made on the beat to the Rec Mark.  Some went deep and east and others turned immediately in an attempt to find some flat water. I believe the winners went deep. The beat to the Rec. Mark saw 20+ knots across decks but it was well handled by all. A port rounding at the mark was followed by a quick dead run to the Hope Banks Rec. Mark before another port turn provided the fastest leg of the day home towards Lockyer Light and on to the finish boat set just where the fleet left it. Awesome arvo!!!!
