How to Get Involved
The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron aims to assist and facilitate opportunities for aspiring crew and skippers.
There are four main ways to get involved, Learning to Sail by participating in one of the Sailing Academy courses, filling out your details on the crew register, participating in our weekly WAGS race on a Wednesday or by becoming one of our valued Volunteers.

LEARNING TO SAIL OR DEVELOPING YOUR SKILLS
Sailing Academy Courses and Classes
RQYS Sailing Academy offer Keelboat, Dinghy and Board learn-to-sail and development courses, classes and discover sailing days. Running 7 days a week, the Sailing Academy has a variety of different options to suit you!
Sail Our Boats Sailing/Membership Package
Cover three (3) courses’ worth of theory and prac and get your Skippers Competency to allow you to skipper a boat without a supervising instructor. Includes a Crew Membership + 10 or 20 Group Sailing Lessons or Club Racing Sessions supported by the RQYS Sailing Academy and Regatta Office. WAGS Racing (Wednesday Afternoon Go Sailing)
Great for crewing on yachts and networking within Manly’s sailing community.
RACING
Club Elliott 6 Racing on Saturdays
Develop your racing skills further with a supportive crew of fellow-learners on an RQYS Elliott 6.
This program runs with the Sailing Season / Club Racing which starts September and concludes mid-April annually.
