NUMBER OF BOATS: 46

Over the past couple of weeks we have had number of British visitors arrive at the Squadron to enjoy the one and only fantastic “Wags” experience. Now what you need to think about is why are they here? It’s the cricket of course! These people are part of the Barmy Army and, in my opinion they have had enough of a flogging since their arrival and needed an afternoon on our bay. I felt so sorry for these lost souls that I also managed to dig up a couple of our shirts to give to them to take home and wear with good memories of Brisbane. Let’s face it the Gabba wasn’t good and it’s probably the only thing they’ll win in the next few months. A huge thank you to Chris on La Quenta who took 5 of these passionate fans and gave them the perfect afternoon and believe it or not it was awesome on our bay. To escape the heat back on shore and enjoy the typical Brissy summer nor’easter was a relief to all who sailed.

The course, once past Lockyer Light went north keeping the Green Island Rec. Mark to starboard and all the way up to the Sand hills Rec. Mark. Possibly one of the longest beats all year! The flood tide had finished around 13:40, so there wasn’t much influence from it for the rest of the afternoon. Once around the top mark, taken to port, a nice 15-18 knots from behind provided the fleet a nice run home between St. Helena and Green Islands, past the western cardinal, also taken to port before hardening up on the breeze for an even faster last leg to the finish line just outside the leads.  Who couldn’t enjoy that??

Coming Up: Next Week-The last Wags for 2 weeks and a big day for Making Waves. A bar tab for Wags sailors from 11am – Noon. A spinning wheel for Handicap changes and much more!!!!
