The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron offers superb facilities, an active sailing calendar and a warm & welcoming environment where lifelong members and first time visitors belong. The Squadron is proud to be one of the largest membership clubs in Queensland with over 4000 members enjoying a variety of interests. The diverse nature of the Squadron is envisioned by the many ways families, some third and fourth generations celebrate in the passion of sailing and life long friendships. Whether a keen young junior, an experienced sailor or a lover of fine food & wine, there is something for everyone at the Squadron.

With a name like Giuliano, you guessed it – I was born into an Italian family where culinary identities are formed at a young age. With that comes an appreciation of the glories of good ingredients, well prepared, made with love and pride, at the table with obnoxiously loud friends and family arguing about if the sauce has too much, or not enough salt in it – this is in the Italian blood and forms a part of our cultural heritage.
I come from a family of restaurateurs and was introduced to this crazy world when I was 15 years old. The smell of fresh cooking sauce, the frenzy of the kitchen and the buzz of the busy restaurant lured me from a young age into the intriguing world of hospitality.
My passion and curiosity for food led me to London to work in the best Michelin Star Restaurants. The glamourous life of a London Chef was met with 15 hour days working hard and furthered my love and respect for food. In 2012 I simply could not bear another harsh London winter, or another day without my mother’s homemade gnocchi. So this is what led me back to the warmth of my hometown, Brisbane.
Upon returning home, I was eager to introduce Brisbane to my newly refined culinary skills. My Pandora’s Box was opened – no piece of meat, veg or pasta looked quite the same. I established myself as the Head Chef of several inner city restaurants such as: Darling & Co. and Riverbar. In each kitchen, I narrate a story of contemporary elegance while maintaining the strong Italian heritage that flows through my veins.
I am now proud to call the RQYS kitchen home and I look forward to serving members some truly special dishes inspired by the beautiful bayside. I hope to see you at the Squadron sometime soon.
The Squadron’s liquor license does not allow members or guests to bring alcohol into the licensed area, which includes the Boardwalk and the BBQ areas. Therefore, any alcohol consumed in these areas must be purchased from the RQ Bar.
