WAGS REPORT

DATE:  3/12/2025

WIND:  ESE-10-15 KNOTS

TIDE: L@14:31-0.56M

COURSE: 21AR

NUMBER OF BOATS: 47

What’s the line in ‘Field of Dreams’? “If you build it, they will come!” Well, I didn’t need to build anything, it was already there and has been for quite some time. But come they did. One of the larger fleets of the year with 47 boats ready to play. Maybe it was the week off last Wednesday or more than likely the near perfect sailing conditions and good company that brought everyone out. Whatever it was it was a cracker!!

The course needed some careful selection as a forecasted easterly can vary. It’s a little unusual for this time of the year for the breeze not to go NE, however the land temperature was down and the easterly hung in all arvo providing a great course. So it was a lovely reaching start up the bay to the Green Island western cardinal before heading east and out to the northern red on a small beat. The end of the ebb tide really didn’t have too much influence all day, however any assistance was welcomed. A starboard turn at the red and it was down to GERM. The extra recreational mark east of Green Island (GERM) was near perfect to setup a great beat out to Hope Banks. It was on this leg where all the big decision needed to be made. If you made some good decisions, you benefited. Many skippers saying after “you just needed to be in the right spot for the lifts”. A port turn at Hope and it was home and back to the Green Island northern red before turning south at the western cardinal and hardening up on the breeze and finding the finish boat anchored just south of the harbour entrance. There was just under 8 minutes for 31/35 Monos and 4 minutes for 6/8 Multis. AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Coming Up: Christmas Wags-17/12/25 incorporating a big fund raiser for Making Waves. Come and support this great charity. Buy a spin on the wheel to enhance your handicap on the day by possibly minutes?????? Should be very interesting!!!!!
