Overview

At Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, we offer two dynamic Australian Sailing powerboat courses, catering to individuals with a powerboat license looking to elevate their skills. The Powerboat Handling course hones boat control abilities, especially in challenging settings like marinas and turbulent waters. Participants delve into engine mechanics, craft varieties, and navigation techniques, gaining the confidence to operate powerboats with finesse. Alternatively, the Safety Boat Operator course equips individuals with essential skills to support water-based activities at various institutions. This program places a strong emphasis on racecourse design and on-water rescue methods for dinghies. Both courses provide valuable knowledge and expertise for those seeking to enhance their powerboating capabilities in different capacities, ensuring safe and skilled navigation on the water.

Powerboat Handling

The Powerboat Handling course focuses on boat handling in challenging conditions, enhancing control and understanding of engines, watercraft, and navigation. Graduates become self-assured powerboat captains in demanding scenarios.

Each day runs from 8 am – 4 pm with a break for lunch. You have options to bring your own lunch or we have a cafe on site. Bringing sun safe clothes, a hat, water bottle and enclosed shoes are a must! We provide life jackets, but being water confident for this course is essential. Successful participants gain your Australian Sailing Powerboat Handling certificate.

Safety Boat Operator

The Safety Boat Operator course imparts vital skills for water-based activity safety. Focusing on racecourse design and dinghy rescue techniques, participants become adept at managing aquatic emergencies for event safety.
