Goodwill Cup Navigation Event

2nd & 3rd November, 2024

The Goodwill Cup stands as the premier event in the Squadron’s Navigation Championship Program, held annually since 1933. In 1961, this prestigious competition expanded to include the Southport Yacht Club, competing for the esteemed Goodwill Trophy.

The navigation event typically unfolds around Peel Island, heading southward with an overnight anchorage at RQYS Canaipa. A significant part of the Goodwill Cup tradition is the camaraderie ashore following the event.

The presentation of trophies takes place at the conclusion of a Barbeque Breakfast at RQYS Canaipa the next day. The Goodwill Cup, donated by Dr. J. Bostock and Dr. J. Nye, is awarded to the winning Squadron Boat in the Traditional Division. Additional trophies are presented to the winners in the GPS Division.

Results for the Goodwill Trophy interclub competition are based on the performance of the top five boats from each club in both the Traditional and GPS Divisions. Dr. Nye also donated the magnificent Goodwill Trophy for the interclub competition.

The Navigation Event Program has fostered tremendous inter-club camaraderie, with the Goodwill Cup exemplifying the great boating spirit that these events inspire.

Regatta Flamingo Shirts can be purchased from reception. Limited stock is available.
