Australian Bush Poetry, also known as a ‘Bush Ballad’, is defined as poetry with rhyme and meter that depicts Australia, Australians and the way of life in Oz. Most of us know of the early Bush poets such as Banjo Patterson and Henry Lawson which roamed the land a century ago.

The old tradition of Bush Poetry is still entertaining the crowds today and we have many great bush poets in this country, nowadays using YouTube as their outlet.

We have many great talents in this cruising group and I’m confident some of you will rise to the challenge to present a piece of bush poetry. Here is an example of modern bush poetry: View Video Here

You can write your own if you wish, but presenting someone else’s work is much easier. Judging will be based on the entertainment value provided by your presentation and a prize will be awarded at the end.

I have a few Bill Kearns poems of available, let me know if you need one.

Participation in this activity is optional but you’ve gotta be in it to win it!

Please advise your attendance by email to svmoonglade@gmail.com
