Overview:

The Safety and Sea Survival Course is a two day course including classroom presentations, interactive learning activities and practical exercises in the use of liferafts, Personal Flotation Devices (PFD’s) and distress flares.

For those who have previously attended a Safety and Sea Survival Course, the Refresher course is offered and is of one day duration.

The Safety and Sea Survival Course is delivered by Paper Sailors Rock, an approved Australian Sailing Safety and Sea Survival Training Centre.

Both the Full Course and Refresher course assists offshore skippers and crews in developing awareness of respective responsibilities; to offer and discuss practical strategies for coping with emergencies at sea; to familiarise skippers and crews with safety and emergency equipment, its purpose, deployment and use.

This course is also suitable for cruising sailors or those wishing to learn more about safety on the water.

Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an Australian Sailing Safety and Sea Survival Certificate as required for all Category 1 and Category 2 offshore races.  The Certificate is valid for 5 years.
