Overview:

The RYA Diesel Engine course aims to give an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine and the ability to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown at sea and troubleshoot any arising issues which do not require workshop support.

The course will include:

• Principles of the diesel engine
• The Four-stroke Cycle
• The Fuel System
• The Cooling System
• The Air Systems
• The Electrical Systems
• Spares and Tool Requirements
• Servicing
• Fault Finding

A common marine engine is provided within the classroom with all of its components to get hands on experience.

RYA Certificate provided upon successful completion of the course.
