Come and celebrate the Opening of the 139th Sailing Season! Our VIP Guests and Members Morning Tea will begin at 9am in the Pavilion followed by our Official Ceremony (on the Rigging lawn), Sail Past and Festival.Members Morning Tea – 9:00am
Enjoy a complimentary Morning Tea from 9am under the Pavilion. Sheldon Colleges very own Band, will entertain you during Morning Tea.
Arrival of Guest of Honour – Patron Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD – 9:30 am
The Squadrons Patron, Professor Graeme Nimmo will be led by Bagpiper Chris Elliott into the Squadron Grounds and towards to Entrance to the Main Clubhouse. If you would like to view our Patrons Entry – please do so only by standing inside or at the opening of the Cavill Building – please keep the Main Clubhouse and Miller Gallery free for Official VIP guests and Committee Members.
Official Ceremony, Call to Worship & Blessing of the Fleet – 10:00am
Our Officer of the Day, Rear Commodore Todd Anderson will officiate the Ceremony by welcoming our Patron Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD, the Commodore and introducing our Reverend who will lead us into the Call to Worship & Blessing of the Fleet.
Sail Past – 11:00am
Number Board collection is available from Flagship Drive towards the Marina Entry Gate from 8:00am – Our Volunteer Members will be there to greet you. Please ensure that you provide details such as: your name; boat name; type of boat; as well as any interesting details about your boat that you would like mentioned.
The Sail Past Commences after the Official Ceremony, Call to Worship & Blessing of the Fleet.

Opening Day Festivities – 1:00pm
Enjoy Live Music under the Pavilion following the Sail Past followed by a special performance from the ‘Dores at 4:30pm!
Lunch Menu – 1:00pm
Indulge in a culinary delight as our venue comes alive with an array of food stalls. From a Seafood Fiesta to a sizzling Spit Roast carvery and a charming Doughnut Wall. And for wine enthusiasts, a captivating rosé stand adding a touch of elegance to your day.
Gin & Rum Garden Bar – 1:00pm
Back by popular demand, the Rum bar has now been extended to include boutique Gins! Step into a world of flavor at our Gin and Rum Garden bar. Savor exquisite spirits surrounded by lush greenery, where every sip becomes an adventure in taste and ambiance. The Gin & Rum Garden Bar will be open from 1pm for Members to enjoy and relax in the Wine Down Area (adjacent to the BBQ area).
Opening Day Invitational Race – First Warning 1300 hrs.
The 139th Opening Day Invitational Race is open to all Off the Beach Boats owned, skippered & crewed by financial members for RQYS. There is no entry fee for this invitation race. Format of racing will be a lap around Green Island or a Windward / Leeward depending on the conditions of the day. Notice of Race & Sailing Instructions can be found: HERE.
Member Prize Raffle Draw
We have several raffles drawn throughout the day. The major draw will be held at 1pm with three cash prizes following. Tickets for the major raffle are $2 each with proceeds going to the Wyuna Foundation. To enter we ask that you please bring cash or card on the day to support the raffle as charging Member Accounts will not be accepted.
