The Yacht Sales Co. Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race is one of Australia’s longest tropical category 2 offshore yacht races, and will deliver competitors to the wonderful destination of Hamilton Island, in time for the Whitsunday Race Week.
Skippers and crews are invited to enter the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron 2024 Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race, the warm water 600-mile passage race you do not want to miss.
The 2024 Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht race will start on Moreton Bay, off Manly QLD on Friday, 2 August 2004 at 1100 hours.
In 2006 RQYS pioneered the concept of an offshore passage race North from Brisbane to cater for southern boats who had done the Sydney to Southport Race and were heading to the Whitsundays the various Race Weeks. The race also provided the opportunity for interstate and local boats to head North with a safety overwatch.
The race destination until 2018 was Great Keppel Island and then Keppel Bay Marina. Over time bigger and deeper draft boats contested the event. In 2019, to cater for the larger boats the inaugural Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race was conducted with the support of Hamilton Island Yacht Club.
After departing Moreton Bay and Fraser Island the course for the race allows skippers, tacticians, and navigators to plot their preferred course to Hamilton Island with only one other passing mark in the course.
Hamilton Island is an ideal destination for the race finish as the island offers marina facilities, a wide range of accommodation, entertainment, and transport options. The cost of entry fees will include specific pre and post-race hospitality.
The 2024 Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race provides an ideal opportunity to complete a warm water offshore passage race with safety oversight and get your boat to the Whitsundays and North Queensland for the regatta circuit.
