The QIODA 2018 Optimist State Titles at Port Denison Sailing Club concluded Monday with another day of big breeze.
The Regatta was won by RQYS Junior Member Blake Wilson, with Squadron member, but PDSC local, Talia Bulstrode taking out best girl and 3rd Overall, with Austin Cross in 4th.
The event saw a number of successes for our RQYouthSquad Junior sailors with Hugo Ralph coming away with 1st place in the 12 years category and Nick Moody 1st in 11 year olds. Campbell Wallace is the new Intermediate Optimist State Champion after dominating the Intermediate Fleet in the regatta held in his family home town of Bowen.
Well done also to Bella Wilson who was awarded the “Most Improved” sailor in the Open Fleet.
Well done to all of our Optimist sailors who took on such a long trip to compete in the event. The squad now looks forward to competing at Queensland Youth Week 2018, to be held this July.
