The Beast Sailing Team Report - 11 Sept 2025

isThis week Michael James’ ‘The Beast Sailing Team’ is in Fremantle Western Australia for the 2025 Australian Women’s Match Racing Championship. The Women’s Beast Sailing Team is formed with members of RQYS, skippered by Ayla Barney, Captained by Yael O’Hagan and crewed by Sophie Beasley, Caitlin Calder and Ayesha Albery will be participating in their first regatta together and are looking forward to the week.

Free Practice was available yesterday and the team made use of an Elliott 7 One Design for close to 3hrs, taking the time to practice tacking, gybing and playing with the spinnaker. With many new crew positions and skills being tested, the teams form significantly improved over the session and confidence grew with that.

Racing kicks off mid morning Wednesday West Aus time (Early Afternoon QLD) so be sure to tune into the Live Stream on the Fremantle Sailing Club YouTube Channel for the rest of the week. There will be lots learnt over the week and we look forward to sharing our journey with you on our Facebook Page ‘The Beast Sailing Team’.
