Last Saturday, the entire RQ Youth Squad and the Commodore gathered on the Opti Lawn to celebrate a remarkable milestone—our very own Josh Dale has qualified for the Australian team to compete at the Opti World Championships in Slovenia later this month.

It’s been nearly 18 years since a young sailor from Royal Queensland has earned a spot on the National team, making Josh’s achievement all the more special. Starting at just six years old, Josh began his sailing journey by following his older brother James around the course. Since then, he has climbed the ranks to become one of the Opti squad’s most senior members and the QLD State Champion (2024), known not only for his skill but also for his leadership and sportsmanship.

Josh secured his place on the Australian team with an impressive 3rd place finish at the 2025 Opti Nationals held at RQ in January. His selection is a true testament to years of dedication, hard work, and the unwavering support of his parents and coaches.

We’re incredibly proud of Josh and excited to see him represent Australia on the world stage. The entire Youth Squad will be cheering him on every step of the way—go Josh!
