Bright Weather and Smooth Sailing Makes for a Memorable Wags Day!

Finally, finally, finally we escaped the light breezes and the rain, as we have been experiencing in the past number of weeks, to have the complete opposite in sunshine and a good steady wind. The amount thankful comments in the bar at the end of the day were pleasing to the ear.

Course Echo is approx. 13 nm and after the long windward leg from the start boat all the way between Green and St. Helena islands to the top mark at the floating St. Helena red, it was time for skippers and crews to relax a little and enjoy a running reach to Hope Banks and a broad reach home to the finish. Exceptionally well done to Dancing Lady, who stood by a capsized Finn (not in the Wags fleet) at Hope Banks. A long way from where a Finn is usually sailed!!!???

A sombre note to the Lambourne Family from the Wags Family on the loss of Howard, a good man! His funeral is this Friday, 1PM, the Encounter Church Wynumn West. A couple of drinks to celebrate his life will be back at RQ after the service.

NB: The Peter Beard Memorial Trophy will now be held on the Christmas Wags break-up 18/12/2024.
