A very, very light day was forecast with 3 -5 knots predicted and it looked like it was going to be a bob around the bay. However we were blessed with a great little 8 knotter that stayed all arvo and gave another great fleet a fantastic sail. It was decided that a short course was a definite, so anti clockwise around Green Island gave plenty of marks of the course where it could be shortened if it all went wrong. No need. We actually needed to lengthen the last leg to get us past 15:00. It turned out to be awesome with 11 seconds separating the first 4 Multis and some very close results in the Monos.
The first mark of the course was Lockyer light and it was set-up to be a beat from the start boat. As the fleet neared that mark, the breeze went a little left (NNE) and made for some more work to the Green Island Rec. mark albeit with a helping ebbing tide. From GERM it was back between Green and St. Helena, around the western cardinal and a lovely running reach, against the tide all the way to the finish boat anchored well south of the harbour leads. Well done to all!!Great arvo!!
