WIND: ENE-NNE-8-12 Knots

COURSE: 23B

TIDE: L@13:22

NUMBER OF BOATS: 43

Another new course, enjoyed by all!

A fantastic fleet of 43 turned up to enjoy our bay and didn’t it turn on another brilliant afternoon of near perfect sailing conditions. A very steady nor’easter around 10 knots hung in all arvo. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Another positive was the comments on the new courses we have created. There are a number that will be used, as the conditions require, and at this stage are being enjoyed by all. It is making skippers and crew think about new headings and tactics. Course 23B, though using some familiar marks, just mixes it up and some new headings needed thought.

So the start line was set up so the first mark (Green Island western cardinal) was a beat. The breeze shifted around a bit and made it a little easier for some. However, if anything the breeze made the next leg between Green and St. Helena, a little more on the nose and it seemed to do the same all the way to the floating red at St. Helena. A starboard rounding and there was some relief for crew as it was a very gentle run down to the Green Island RM where another starboard rounding brought the fleet back to the Green Island red and back between the islands (some call it the slot)  to the western cardinal. The finish boat had relocated deep in Waterloo Bay and a heading of 160 degrees was broadcast to the fleet, enabling all to find us. Another very close fleet finish kept all on Vic Frizzell very busy. Wouldn’t have it any other way!!!! Great Day!!!!

Coming up:

20/11/24-The Ross Jullyan Memorial Trophy and race 1 of the Geoff Anderson Memorial Super Series
