Great Sail, Great Day!

With near perfect conditions, a little different from the previous weeks, a large fleet enjoyed some close sailing and everyone made the most of our brilliant bay. The nor’easter was slightly softer at the start of the afternoon and at stages went east (right) and gave some challengers to skippers and crew. However the forecast of stronger breezes greeted all once out past the islands.

So from the start boat it was a beat to the first mark of the western cardinal at Green Island. This is where the breeze started to flick right and created the challenges. It was still a work leg all the way between Green and St. Helena Islands and up to the St. Helena floating red where a starboard rounding saw the fleet have a nice run to the Hope Banks Rec Mark. By now it was blowing 15- 18 knots and some great boat speeds were being achieved. Another starboard turn at the mark was followed by a reach to Lockyer Light and home to the finish boat just south of the harbour entrance. Great sail. Great day!!!!!

Just a note about the Wags WhatsApp-A fantastic way to get the day’s briefing and once everybody has registered, a copy of the start sheet. So you can see who you are starting with. Awesome and very important information.
