The doom and gloom of rain and wind was being spoken about on all media outlets. I must admit that it made me look hard at the radar in the early morn and I came to the same conclusion. However not a drop was experienced by the Wags fleet all afternoon until the boats were safely tied up. There was a mad rush, in wild expectation of presentation, across the lawn to the club house and it poured! Great timing!

It was a small but quality fleet that enjoyed the breeze and some good sailing resulted in a great finish with less than 50 seconds separating the first 4 Monos. So good to watch! It was a running reach from the start line to the western cardinal off Green Island and it became a true beat as the fleet headed out to Hope Banks. 20 knots plus across the decks was the order of the day and the larger boats enjoyed the suiting conditions. A port round at the mark and it was off to the floating red at St. Helena on a very fast run before again turning to port and with cracked sheets to the southern cardinal it was on to another run back between Green and St. Helena Islands. The western cardinal was seen for the second time in the afternoon and it was here that the fleet compressed and enjoyed a fast broad reach home to the finish line just south of the harbour leads. Great arvo!!
