Spectacular Sailing Conditions Reward the Fleet!

With the frustration of a no sail last week, everyone’s patience was rewarded with fantastic conditions on our bay. A great fleet gathered to see what and where any type of breeze that might be supplied, and to enjoy some very close and competitive sailing.

The breeze, all be it light, was certainly present and consistent arriving from the SE right on time. The start line was set so the first leg was a beat all the way to Lockyer Light. Looking at the fleet tacking and searching for some clear air was very entraining. A port rounding at the mark saw a run to the Green Island rec. mark and all the way to the floating red at St. Helena where another port rounding saw the ebbing tide in need some thought. The breeze remained consistent and as usual, the fleet compressed and sailed all the way between St. Helena and Green Islands and all the way to the finish line set just north of the harbour entrance. A small rain cloud sat down near Peel Island and somehow threw a breeze of around 12 knots at the finish line providing some more speed on a lovely broad reach and some very close finishers. Awesome day!!!
