WIND: ESE10-12 KNOTS

TIDE: L@13:23

COURSE: LIMA

NUMBER OF BOATS: 45

A rather large fleet turned up to escape another humid Brissy day in a beautiful breeze and enjoy some very close sailing.

It’s probably one of the only times any Wags course gave 2 windward beats, but by comments in the bar at presentation, everyone enjoyed the challenge. The forecast of low wind strength restricted the selection of the course and by using two of the new reactional marks, it made for a perfect beat to the windward mark at the Hope Banks RM. However the windward work started way before on the first leg from the start line to the first mark at Lockyer Light. There wasn’t any tide to worry about with the low at 13:23, so slack water was on the menu. A port turn at Lockyer was followed by a short reach up to the Green Island RM. Then the above mentioned beat all the way out to Hope. It was fantastic to watch from the Vic Frizzell with boats tacking all over the bay. I’m sure thing got very busy at Hope!!Just say’n. The run home back to Lockyer Light and onto the finish boat were the “relaxing legs” apparently. Awesome arvo!
