Thar She Blows!
“Thar she Blows”. Whales on the course today so we had something for everyone.
The breeze being a light N/E from 10 – 12kts and an outgoing tide with low tide at about the finishing time of the race gave cause to choose Course 18A from the new course book.
Be advised the new Sailing Instructions and Courses are available on line on the RQYS website.
The early starters had the advantage of a little more breeze and picked up a good lead that made good speed specifically on the southern leg to the east of Green Island.
Halloween showed the fleet the advantage of having some instruction from Head Coach Adrian last week. Goes to show you’re never too old to learn!
“It was great to have Adrian Finglas (RQYS Head Coach) aboard for WAGS. His insights around pre-race preparation, rig set-up, sail settings and positioning on the course were invaluable. Quite often we focus on making the boat better, instead of ourselves. Coaching should be considered an essential step in our ‘ways to go faster’ on a racecourse even if we have been sailing for decades!”
