When conditions couldn’t be better!
After a high wind and a rough sea weekend, the beautiful weather for our Wednesday arvo sail could not have been better. A typical Brissy October brought a northerly at 10-16 knots, flat seas and made for near perfect conditions and a great fleet of 39 had a ball. So did race control!!
Coarse 26 Bravo is one of our older common coursers and gives a little to everybody. Some thought required in 2 beats and a chance to relax on a couple of long running and reaching legs. So from the start line, it was a true beat to the Green Island western cardinal before cracking sheets and making for the St. Helena southern cardinal and back on a beat up to the floating red. The breeze was a steady 15 knots as a starboard rounding at the mark took the fleet on a running reach down to the Hope Banks RM. Looking out from the finish boat, things looked very busy? Another starboard turn at Hope and a very fast reach to Lockyer Light saw the fleet compress, as it should. The fight for clear air was great to watch as boats struggled to do so. On the finish boat, we knew we were in for a busy few minutes. It was nearly like finishing on a Laser course with 32 from the 39 fleet crossing the line in under 6 minutes. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great to watch and even better to participate. Well done!
