Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron sailors delivered an outstanding performance at the QLD ILCA State Championships at Humpybong Yacht Club over the weekend, showcasing impressive depth across all fleets.

The team produced multiple top-10 finishes and secured several race podiums across the ILCA 4, 6 and 7 divisions. Competitors were challenged by variable coastal sea breezes and shifty conditions, demanding strong boat handling, sharp starts and smart decision-making.

Across the regatta, the squad demonstrated excellent consistency from experienced sailors, while junior/youth sailors delivered standout breakthrough results. Just as importantly, a strong and positive team culture was evident throughout the event, this has been a key focus area for the squad over recent terms.

Class highlights:

ILCA 4: Dominant performance with 9 sailors in the top 10, led by Harry Hogan who claimed victory with an impressive picket fence.

ILCA 6: 8 sailors finished inside the top 10, with Frances Beebe taking out the overall win and Caterina Meyer securing the U21 Win.

ILCA 7: Strong showing with 5 sailors placing in the top 10.

RQYS Youth Squad will look to build on this momentum with targeted training in downwinds and tactical matchups as the squad prepares for upcoming regional and national regattas.

Congratulations to all RQYS competitors! Check out all results here: https://cdn.revolutionise.com.au/…/hbxt3nczqpym4vtw.pdf
