“Amazing, bloody cracker, and where else would you rather be?”

These were the statements being bandied about in the bar at the end of the day. Yes it was all of that, but even more with some very close sailing on a fairly short course in not a lot of breeze. Challenging and awesome!

The course was the same as last week only in reverse: anti-clockwise around Green Island. The start boat was ecstatic to see 7 knots on arrival to the course, and the start line was set as far south in Waterloo Bay as possible to give a true beat to Lockyer Light, the first mark. The big question was, start on a port or starboard tack? The majority chose port. The breeze went slightly left, as did the next leg giving skippers and crew things to think about. A port rounding at the Green Island East Rec Mark (GERM) and up to the northern red where another port rounding saw the fleet go onto a running reach to the western cardinal. This is where it was looking very close as the fleet compressed. From the finish boat, any one of 20 boats could win. It was a great sight!

We were very blessed to have the breeze all afternoon, but at this point it started to fade to 3-4 knots. The great result was everyone finished!!  Thank you to the skippers who took extra crew. Our visitors are very important.
