The heavens provided another amazing afternoon of sailing.
One of the skippers walked up to the Wags table in the bar at the start of the day and mentioned that things felt a little strange outside. I had no idea what he was talking about until we were motoring out to the course. There was a Halo around the sun and gave off a very different and colourful light, indicating that there was some very cold air in the heavens above. Spectacular! The heavens also provided another amazing afternoon of sailing.
The breezes were light but very consistent and once again gave welcome relief to the hot conditions back in the marina. Course Lima being one of the shorter coursers, proved challenging. From the start boat, the first leg was a true beat to Lockyer Light before a port rounding and north to the Green Island RM. The breeze at this stage made the next leg another true beat all the way out to the Hope Banks RM (yes it was found on Mud Island and reinstated). The fleet was fantastic to watch from the start boat as boats tacked searching for an advantage in the fickle breeze. A starboard turn at the mark was followed by a run back to Lockyer Light. The breeze increased slightly and provided a bit more of a running reach to the elusive finish boat which was very hard to find in the weird light. Some very close finishers with seconds between many boats and under 10 minutes covering the fleet. Well done!!!
