March 26, 2026

The end of March marks the beginning of the important round of Olympic class events being held in Europe with RQYS members competing across various classes. These regattas are important in many ways. They provide important big fleet international competition with the best sailors from around the world and count as important ranking and, for some, qualification hurdles for teams and Olympic spots.

The first of the regattas is the Trophia Princes Sophia held at various venues in Majorca Spain from 30 March to 4 April. RQYS will be represented across a number of classes with Mara Stransky and Frances Beebe competing in the ILCA 6, Isaac Schotte in the ILCA 7, Rory Meehan and Jarrod Jones in the iQFoils, and Niamh Meehan in the Nacra 17. It should be noted that the squadrons John Harrison Foundation provides important financial support to many of these sailors to help them achieve their goals and hopefully Olympic selection.

Following on from the Princess Sophia are a number of other critical regattas including Hyeres in France and Kiel Woche in Germany along with other class or age specific championships across the region. We will endeavour to keep you all updated on these events and our members performance through the season.

The Squadron wishes all our sailor competing overseas this year good luck, fair sailing and great results.
