Queensland’s offshore sailing calendar will welcome an exciting new addition in 2026 with the announcement of the inaugural Brisbane to Bundaberg Offshore Yacht Race.
Set to depart Brisbane on 18 June 2026, the race will see a diverse fleet of yachts sail North along the Queensland coast, finishing at Bundaberg Port Marina. Designed to be both competitive and accessible, the event aims to attract club racers, offshore campaigners and cruising yachts alike, while showcasing one of the state’s most appealing coastal passages.
The Brisbane to Bundaberg Yacht Race has been developed to encourage participation, camaraderie and destination racing, with the intention that competitors will complete the course by Friday evening, allowing time to enjoy the Bundaberg region. A celebration and presentation function is planned for Saturday afternoon, featuring local hospitality, drinks and seafood, providing a relaxed and social conclusion to the event. Event organisers are also exploring transport options, including a potential coach transfer back to Brisbane, to support sailors returning home.
Beyond the racing itself, the event is being positioned as a broader sailing and community experience, with strong support from the Bundaberg Port Marina and local stakeholders.
Organisers are confident the Brisbane to Bundaberg Yacht Race will become a valued annual fixture, offering a rewarding offshore challenge combined with the appeal of a warm regional welcome and memorable post-race celebrations.
Further details, including Notice of Race and entry information, will be released in the coming weeks on the official regatta page HERE.
