Its Game Day! Race 1 of the 2018 Etchells World Championship is on from midday today, and the atmosphere in the boat park is one of keen readiness.
Good luck to all of our Squadron members competing in the event, over 50 sailors from the Squadron will compete on boats from our own fleet, as well as on boats from around the country.
Jake Lilley Sailing will be hoping to do well with his young team on board Bait & Switch, but youth and Olympic class experience will have to battle wisdom and years of Etchells regattas from many of our fleet sailors.
We wish all of our sailors the best of luck!

Very fortunate to have combined with Lewis Brake and Matt Wearn
It’s a new experience for such a young crew as we search for room to grow and expand our knowledge and yacht racing prowess in the lead up to the TOKYO 2020 Olympic Games.
The Etchells Class is the perfect environment to sharpen racing skills and learn alot about a challenging boat against the very best sailors in the world.
Plenty to work on for three solo single sail sailors
Matt Wearn is the recently crowned Australian Male Sailor of the Year and has had a stellar year in the Laser class highlighting with silver medals at both the World Championships and Pre Olympics.
Matt is our tactician / bowman.
Lewis Brake is a former 49er crew turned Finn Sailor and all-round weapon on any sailing vessel, having recently won Hamilton Island Race Week.
Lewis is on main and kite trim and keeps the boat moving.
I’m on the helm and will try to keep our nose clean as I continue to amp up for another Olympic campaign in the Finn.
