Drake’s Prayer in Line Honours Win
Rod Johannessen on Drake’s Prayer represented RQYS in the WMYC Hart Cup from Manly to Mooloolaba on Good Friday and recorded a line honours win. The race started at 8am and was over a course starting in Waterloo Bay and out of Moreton Bay via the North West Channel. The conditions were light with the breeze between 2 and 11 knots from the south west initially and then the south east, but mostly 4 to 6 knots.
Drake’s Prayer had a tight race for line honours with fellow RQYS member David Richards on Desperate Measures. Drake’s Prayer was the first yacht to the first mark and then was in third or fourth place for most of the race until more favourable reaching conditions from Caloundra allowed Drake’s Prayer to move into the lead.
Drake’s Prayer then joined the RQYS Sail Cruising Group for the return to Manly on Saturday with an overnight stop at Lucinda Bay on Moreton Island to enjoy the stunning Easter weather.
