TIDE: H@13:29

COURSE: 22BR

NUMBER OF BOATS: 30

Some say that patience is a virtue. It’s something that is not one of my qualities and after the “indifferent” conditions in the past few weeks, we were blessed with one of the best sailing days this year. Thankfully the forecast of light breezes didn’t eventuate and the 10 knots we had at the start of the day held all afternoon. It was great!

The course was selected to provide as many marks as possible just in case we needed to shorten, however it was a consideration that was quickly taken away and the full course was needed. For some, the course illustration is confusing, but to most very clear and challenging in many ways with the crew working all the time. From the start line it was a true beat in a sou’easter to the first mark being Lockyer Light before a port turn north east to Germ was followed by a starboard turn and back to Lockyer Light. It was quite busy back at the mark with boats going both directions—well done to all no issues! A run to the Green Island Western Cardinal and out between Green and St. Helena to the Northern Red and back south east to Germ to be rounded to starboard and back the way the fleet had just come. It’s a very friendly course as you see everybody regularly. At this stage the finish boat was drifting north of Green watching the fleet and conditions. It was evident all was good and a very quick blast was required all the way back to the harbour entrance to set the finish line where some of the closest finishers of the year were witnessed. Great to watch! More of that please!!!!!
