WIND: ENE / 10‐14kn
TIDE: H @ 18.02
COURSE: LIMA REVERSE
NUMBER OF BOATS: 44
Our patience has been thoroughly tested in recent weeks, with three out of five Wednesdays canceled due to strong winds. However, today proved to be well worth the wait. Under near-perfect conditions, a remarkable fleet gathered for an afternoon sail, leaving no room for disappointment. This occasion also provided an opportunity to unveil a new course, utilising two recently installed safe water marks from MSQ. The feedback on both the new course and marks has been overwhelmingly positive, ensuring their frequent utilisation in the future.
The newly introduced Course Lima Reverse presented various points of sail, commencing with the breeze just forward of the mast en route to Lockyer Light. The subsequent mark on the course, the recently established Hope Banks mark, coincidentally positioned dead ahead, creating a challenging and invigorating beat. Despite being a new addition, the tidal conditions in that area remain a concern, necessitating thoughtful consideration.
Following a port rounding at the mark, a run back to the new Green Island mark offered skippers and crews a brief respite. Another port rounding ensued before revisiting Lockyer Light, followed by a starboard turn that led to a delightful reach towards the finish boat anchored north of the leads. It was, without a doubt, a splendid day on the water.
Looking ahead, we anticipate the upcoming Race 1 of 7 in the Geoff Anderson Memorial Super Series, held within the context of the Ross Jullyan Memorial Trophy.
