RQYS Member, Dougal Henderson has just arrived back from a wonderful experience aboard the ‘Windeward Bound’ tall ship and shared his feedback:

I have just come back from a week’s adventure on board Windeward Bound, Hobart to Port Davey return, under the amazing captaincy of Sarah Parry. Windeward Bound is a youth training ship and is about to embark on the “2025 East Coast East Coast Youth Challenge”. This is basically a series of coastal passages from Hobart to Mackay in which youths of the age of 14-17 get to experience the challenges, team work, leadership etc involved in tall ship sailing.

Windeward Bound is due to arrive at Dockside on 20th May and depart from Dockside to sail to Gladstone on 4th June.

Whilst in Brisbane Windeward Bound will be doing day sails as a fundraising venture to fund the youth training, which club members may want to consider.

There are spots still available for kids aged 14 – 17 to take part in the youth training on the vessel.

If you know any kids that would jump at the chance to sail aboard this incredible ship, more information can be found on the Windeward Bound’s website. Click the link below to learn more.
