As predicted “The Battle on Waterloo Bay” didn’t let anyone down! From hardly a breath of wind to fresh to frightening!

For the first time in many years the 18’s came back to Brisbane, after a huge effort by Brisbane 18’s Sailing Club won the rights to stage the championship here in Manly. Fifteen skiffs from NSW, one from VIC and two local Brisbane boats hit the start line tto compete for this converted trophy.

To make all this happen, it was pleasing to see the dynamic digital bank company “WLTH” get behind the event, and also supporting the brand new 18’ skiff, skippered by Brisbane based Josh Sloman. Dave Hayter skipper of Big Foot and Commodore of the Brisbane 18’ Skiff Sailing Club said “It was very pleasing to see the 18’s back here in such good numbers and hopefully will be a regular event for many years to come. Thanks to RQYS, the race management team and volunteers….it was very well managed and appreciated by all competitors.

Sunday was the highlight, fresh to frightening conditions tested all of us out there, providing a real treat for the those out on the YOT Club Corporate Boat.

Thanks to Rob Brown for pulling the sponsorship from WLTH together and also for organising the corporate event, along with club member Stuart Watson… just fantastic!”
