WAGS REPORT

DATE:  5/11/25

WIND: NE-E-ESE-12-15 KNOTS

TIDE: L@15:37-0.41M

COURSE: Original Choice-5 Bravo —CHANGED TO 26 Bravo

NUMBER OF BOATS: 35

Just like the many choices we are given in life, they can also apply to the way we attack our sailing afternoon. Choices of going to port or starboard, playing the patient game or just go for it and deal with the consequences? The only thing we wish for at the end of the day is that we make more good decisions than bad. And so it was on this arvo! Not only choices for skippers and crew, but for the RO as well. The first choice of course ended up having a few issues, a questionable mark and tide issues at that mark. So a course change was made quite late (12:20) to take all of the issues out of play. The second choice was then left to skippers and crew on any changes to tactics. By the end of the day all worked out well!!!

26 Bravo is a longish course, however in a very steady 12-15 knotter it was no problem. A windward start to the Green Island western cardinal and then up to the floating red at St. Helena was followed by the start of the breeze swinging east. A starboard rounding and it was down to the Hope Banks rec. mark, where as per form for the day, the breeze went just south of east and left some boats on the western side of Hope and needed to tack to get around the mark. Another starboard rounding and it was off home via Lockyer Light to a finish line set just south of the harbour entrance. After all the choices needed for the day, the real only problem is why is there only one Wednesday per week?

Coming Up: The Ross Jullyan Memorial Trophy and Race 1/7 of The Geoff Anderson Memorial Super Series.
