Sometimes in life, you need to be aware of what you ask for. There have been several comments in the bar about “more windward work” from both the Mono and Multi skippers. So the conditions served up on Wednesday were just perfect too; ask and you shall receive. A consistent sou’easter was the forecast for the arvo and the Peel Island Rec. Mark (PRM) was just screaming out to be visited. The only issue was that the leg to PRM wasn’t going to be the only work leg for the day.

The breeze was coming from 110 degrees at 15-20 knots and the start line was set up to make the first mark of the course, Lockyer Light, the first work leg. In fact more than half the course was windward work. Just trying to be accommodating!! There was flooding tide all day and after taking Lockyer to port, there was a minor reprieve with a reach, all 800 meters of it (against the tide) to the Green Island Rec Mark, before turning to starboard and off on the intended long beat all the way to PRM. The breeze backed off a little making it not so stressful for skippers and crew and by the time the mark was taken to starboard, it had dropped a way to 10 -12 knots. The long run home to the finish, via Huybers Beacon saw the usual condensing of the fleet where again some very close finishes were witnessed on the line. Be careful what you ask for!!! Great Day!!!!
