Should ‘a, Could ‘a Would ‘a!!
It was a disappointing way to finish the Wags year. There was a lot of communication between the powers that be, over the preceding days. We were watching the predicted front that was running up the NSW coast and as Wednesday arrived, we were also confident of the arrival of this front right in the middle of our afternoons sail. If we could have made a short race of it, if we could have changed start times—— should ‘a, could ‘a would ‘a!! As it turned out to all be true and as we all sat in the bar (getting wet on the inside) about 14:30 Hope Banks went from single digits to over 30 knots. All of a sudden the drinks tasted better.
However I was absolutely wrapped that over 40 boats turned up for our Christmas presentations which was advertised via the Wags WhatsApp. Given that there were also 240 junior sailors (who were also chased off their course due to the weather) running around the bar, I was wondering how I was going to run this show. A quick release on their own WhatsApp for them to be somewhere else from Mark Dingley (talk about power!) and instantly we had the place to ourselves. I stood and looked around and realized that all the noise was coming from my Wags family. The bar and all of the surrounding area full with expectation on everybody’s face. I was terrified. But somehow it all went swimmingly with many prizes and gifts passed about with the typical Wags friendly attitude prominent.
A huge thank-you to my crew of Don, Brian and Nelly, it doesn’t happen without you. All of our awesome sponsors-Yachtshare, Adam Dobson diving, Rope Solutions, Australia Wide Boat Sales, Muir Marine, Windcraft, Oatley Wines and certainly last but not least JSA Marine who after 25+years of amazing support of Wags have pulled out. Thank you to John, Shaz and Jason for your wonderful contribution to our sport.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
