WAGS REPORT

DATE: 17/9/2025

WIND: N-NNE-12-15 KNOTS

TIDE: L@12:01

COURSE: 20BR

NUMBER OF BOATS: 35

It was fantastic to have the fleet increase with the return of some from the northern regattas and those who ventured the same way in cruise mode. The day could not have been better. A great breeze with what turned out to be a very quick course with ¾ of it being running and reaching. Going by the comments at presentation, it was enjoyed by all.

We don’t venture down towards Peel Island very often as conditions just don’t suit. However all the boxes were ticked and the course selection turned out to be a cracker. A running reach from the start boat (just outside the harbour entrance) all the way past Huybers Light and down to the Peel Island Rec. Mark turned out to be a very quick leg. A port rounding at the mark then saw a strong beat, in a flooding tide, up to the top mark being the Hope Banks Rec. Mark. There was much discussion in the bar afterward about what side of the course was favoured. I believe the winners went left. After another port rounding at Hope and it was a broad reach all the way home past Lockyer Light to the finish line exactly where it was left at the start. More of afternoons like this please!!!!!!!!!!!
