TIDE: H@15:15-2.2M

COURSE: 26 BR

NUMBER OF BOATS: 29 registered-19 sailed

Last week in my report, I commented on choices and the effects they have the outcomes on life. Maybe a bit heavy? However there were some more choices that needed to made this week for skippers and crew in regards to weather to race or not.  As mentioned above, the boats that registered for the day 29 (a small fleet anyway) were reduced by start time to 19. The great thing is that those who decided to race had a fantastic sail and the bar was humming at the end of the day.

The course selection was given a great deal of thought. All of the heavier breeze was forecast to be east of Green Island (nothing over 22 knots) so whilst we managed to get in some windward work, it was all on the first leg, inside Green Island in a very nice 15 knots. The start boat was set for a very nice beat to Lockyer and in the flooding tide all boats made the first mark with ease. The reach out to Hope Banks Rec. Mark was “dry” (Clarkie) before a port turn at the mark to a very fast and bouncy run to the floating red at St. Helena. Some skippers and crew reporting a steep chop against the end of the flood tide. Another port rounding and it was home between Green and St. Helena in a softening breeze (still 14 knots) to a very “eager to get in crew” on the finish boat.  Well done on a good choice!

Coming Up: Next Week- The Ross Jullyan Memorial Trophy and race 1/7 of-

The Geoff Anderson memorial Super Series
