WAGS REPORT

DATE:  11/3/2026

WIND:  SE-8-13 KNOTS

TIDE: L@14:34-1.52M

COURSE: 22B

NUMBER OF BOATS: 46

The possibility of another fading breeze was on the cards for the afternoons activities. So keeping a great fleet of 46 close to home was a priority and some imagination was required to find just the right course. Course 22 was created for another regatta a couple of years ago. It was a hit then and was a hit again. It’s one of those coursers where you don’t lose contact with any part of the fleet and get to see your opposition up close. Although there’s not a lot of rest for the crew with the boat constantly changing direction.

A steady sou’ Easter greeted the fleet and the start line was set up for a beat to the first mark of the course being Lockyer light. It was a great breeze and I’m sure everyone was willing it to stay!! A port rounding and it was up to the Green Island Rec. Mark (GERM) and taken to starboard. A nice broad reach took the fleet back to Lockyer, saying G’ Day as you passed many boats. It was a starboard turn and a running reach to the Green Island western cardinal, starboard again and out between Green and St. Helena to the Green Island northern red, destination-GERM. With the breeze still in the SE, it turned into another work leg all the way to the mark and there seemed to be some very interesting tactics being employed. Many making some good gains in short tacking. Another port rounding at GERM and finally the crew could relax with a nice run back to the Green Island red and back to a finish line set at the Green Island northern cardinal. 48 seconds separating the first 4 Monos. A fantastic sail and the breeze did stay, only just. Lucky we don’t start any later!!
