WAGS REPORT

DATE:  11/2/2026

WIND: NE 10 -15 Knots

TIDE: H@16:39-1.52M

COURSE: 18 Alpha

NUMBER OF BOATS: 42

Just when all looked perfect to work in a shorter course for a very slow day, and after the form of the wind Gods during the past few days in the completed Finn regatta, one would have thought all was in place for the arvo to be totally covered. The forecast of under 10 knots had skippers talking about a drifter and hanking on the big headsails in preparation. There was no indication on any site of what arrived. It was only 15 knots, but some boats were overpowered and it destroyed the plans of the RO. However it was still fun! So this is how it went down-

The start boat arrived to set the line with the first mark of the course (Green Island Western Cardinal) perfectly to windward. The breeze was already NE around 12 knots and looked set to stay. The only thing it did was increase making the beat to the top mark (St. Helena floating red) the only work all afternoon.  A starboard rounding and it was a quick run in a flooding tide down to GERM also taken to starboard and onto Lockyer Light. Hang on it was only 14:20!  The finish line was set as far west as the depth would allow. At one stage there was some talk that the finish should be the St.Helena jetty!!Silly talk!!! The fleet was home just on 15:00 which gave some extra time for much needed refreshments back at the bar. The awesome thing was it was a nice temperature on our bay and the company was just as good.
