WIND: NNW-NNE-12-20 KNOTS

TIDE: H@11:15-2.30M

COURSE: 26 BRAVO

NUMBER OF BOATS: 24

A strong wind warning was issued for Moreton Bay for Wednesday afternoon and through to Thursday morning. The great thing was the stronger breezes were outside Moreton and Stradbroke Islands and seemed to filter as you went west. So it made some sense to get all the wind ward work for the afternoons sail over as soon as possible. Hence the choice of course.

So from the start boat it was a nice beat to the first mark, the Green Island Western Cardinal, in around 12 knots of a warm northerly. The beat continued all the way up to the St. Helena floating red in a building breeze before a welcome starboard rounding saw the fleet have a blast all the way down to the Hope Banks Rec. Mark. Watching the fleet on IAS, there were some impressive speeds. We saw White Birds sitting on 12 knots only to be made look slow when Chill Pill hit 18 knots. What a ride!! Another starboard rounding at Hope and the course turned into a broad reach home in a steady 18 knots of breeze in a lumpy sea state towards Lockyer Light. As it should, the fleet compressed and provided a very entertaining finish, with the line just outside the harbour leads. It was fantastic to have some good breeze and it was very sailed by all.  Great job!!
