Weekending 26/10/2025 – Austin Sims RQYS Assistant Sailing Manager

Coming up this weekend

Sunday 2nd:

Weekend Wrap Up.

What another fantastic weekend of racing on the bay! We’d like to extend a special thank you to the storms for supporting RQYS Sailing by waiting until after scheduled racing to appear, great teamwork from the weather gods once again.

Our main event for the weekend was the Spirit Marine Beneteau Cup, Mooloolaba Yacht Brokers Jeanneau Cup & French Yacht Challenge, held across both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s racing featured the traditional “tour of the bay,” sending competitors on a scenic lap around Peel Island and back. While the day began a little dreary, conditions soon cleared to deliver a stunning afternoon, perfect for enjoying the sights under sail.

Sunday’s racing was kept closer to home, with two laps of Green Island completed before the forecasted wild weather rolled in. Thankfully, the breeze held off just long enough for presentations to wrap up before the skies opened.
Full regatta results can be found here: https://app.sailsys.com.au/club/25/results/series/4699/races

Sunday also marked the final day of RQYS Term 4 School Fleet Racing, wrapping up another fantastic term of fleet competition for our young sailors. Once again, the weather played its part, allowing all five scheduled races to be completed giving competitors their third and final scoring drop for the series.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who makes School Sailing possible at RQYS, sailors, parents, teachers, coaches, and dedicated volunteers. Your ongoing support and enthusiasm are what make this program such a success.

🎉 Congratulations to our Term 4 Placegetters:
🥇 1st Overall: BGS1 – George & Reuben
🥈 1st All Female Team & 2nd Overall: MBC6 – Ruby & Sienna
🥉 3rd Overall: Iona 303 – Hunter & Elijah

Another great weekend of racing, camaraderie, and community spirit. Thank you to everyone who joined us on and off the water. We look forward to seeing you all again next weekend for more sailing at RQYS!
