Weekend Wrap Up.

Saturday’s Off the Beach Club Racing saw blustery conditions, giving all classes a solid workout in the stronger breeze. The Finns made the most of it, getting in valuable practice ahead of the February regattas.

The conditions, however, proved challenging for the Race Committee, with both Northern and Southern courses experiencing delays as start boats struggled to hold anchor. The Northern Course, having started a little earlier, managed to complete both scheduled races, while anchoring issues & a building breeze on the Southern Course meant only one race was completed before racing was abandoned for the day.

Sunday morning brought the complete opposite. Glassy conditions greeted competitors for the RQYS Term 4 Schools Fleet Racing. After a short delay, racing got underway, and the fleet successfully completed five races. The day’s results suggest close competition across the board, with sailors having to work hard for every position and few managing consistent scores.

By early Sunday afternoon, the RQYS Weather Station was reading just over 10 knots, perfectly on time for the start of Club Foiling Day 3. While the conditions were on the lighter side for the foilers, they still managed to complete all five scheduled races on the slalom format course.

With term school racing, club racing, and foiling all in full swing, there’s plenty more action to come. Keep an eye on the Sailing Office calendar for upcoming events and regattas!
