Summer Results for RQYS teams are looking strong!

Sailing Academy update from our Head Coach, Adrian Finglas

Summer is nearly upon us and for Junior and Youth Sailors that means going to regattas and events interstate .

Last Weekend we had many Youth Sailors down in Victoria doing the ILCA Victorian State titles and other Sailors preparing for Sail Melbourne Regatta which starts this week.

Unfortunately, the wind gods did not turn up for the ILCA state championships with only one race being completed.

The RQYS team was at the front of the fleet across all divisions ,Blair Dodson making a return to the 4.7 fleet captured a very worthy 2nd place in the 4.7 fleet. Ruby Carter finished with a 4th overall and a win in the under 16 female division.

In the ILCA 6 division RQYS Olympian Mara Stransky dominated the fleet with a race win ,Caterina Meyer finished 10th overall and was the first under 17 female competitors .

In Sydney we had another Member Sam Darbyshire take out 2nd place in the Nikki Foiling Championships.

The Nikki is a new junior foiling boat specifically designed for Children. Sam is one of our regular Opti Sailors and Loved the experience sailing a foiling machine.

Our RQYS team will be looking for some great results this summer.
