Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) recently made a strong showing at the Semaine Olympique Francaise in Hyeres, held from April 19th to 26th. A staggering 11 young sailors from RQYS competed against tough wind and cold conditions, all while chasing their Olympic dreams for both the 2028 Los Angeles Games and the 2032 Olympics in Queensland.

The Hyeres Event, known for its challenging weather, pushed the athletes to their limits. Despite the tough conditions, RQYS’s sailors showcased impressive skill and determination, with many gaining invaluable experience racing at an international level. The team’s performance highlights the growing talent within the Squadron and their commitment to excelling in competitive sailing.

With their eyes firmly set on future Olympic success, these young athletes are laying the groundwork for what promises to be an exciting journey toward the podium. The Squadron’s continued investment in developing top-tier sailors is evident, and it’s thrilling to see so many young competitors pursuing their Olympic dreams.

As the team returns home over the next few weeks, we look forward to hearing their stories and celebrating their achievements. RQYS’s sailors are not only shaping their own futures but are also inspiring the next generation of Queensland sailors to aim high.
