The weekend started as planned, fine weather, a little cloud cover to keep it cooler, and smooth calm seas. Five power vessels meeting at the anchorage. Ron noticed lots of dingies bringing fishermen into the anchorage to set up overnight camps, so he made a dash to shore to secure a spot for RQ boaties. By 2.30pm all boats had set their anchors, coming ashore for a casual meet and greet. Around 4pm we had the BBQ fired up, all attendees cooking their dinner at their leisure. We all prepared to sit and watch the sun set over the mainland with a drink in hand.

The weather, easterly 5 to 12 knots mostly sunny, we could not ask for a better forecast. Blaksleys is part of Stradbroke Island so provided a large sandy beach and a tree shaded bbq area. I, myself, in all my boating life had never stopped over at Blaksleys before but I am now keen to visit again.

We all meet onboard Ocean Spirit for morning tea on Sunday. Everyone noted they had all enjoyed the location and the company so are keen to spread the word…RQ power cruising group is a lot of fun. Everyone departed at leisure, some going directly home, others stopped over at Peel Island and one boat even stayed on longer at Blaksleys.

There is no cruise planned for the month of March, but to make up there are to be two power group cruisers for month of April. The next cruise planned is a Brisbane River cruise to Donis Pools, more commonly known as Venus Pools, planned for 3rd to 8th April. This does take in Easter.

For those who want to also extend their time on their boats, weather dependant we could extend time to allow for stayover at the Sandhills. Stay tuned for more information. Due to a rare really high tide on 17th and 18th April a trip to Days Gutter is planned. More information to be published as time nears. We look forward to welcoming more cruisers in near future.

Cheers
