The Gill 2018 Australian Optimist Championships wrap up tomorrow afternoon, with the Italian themed closing ceremony taking place from 1600 to 2200. We’re expecting 1,000 youth sailors and accompanying family members celebrating their successes in the Squadron at this time, as such there will be limited access to the Squadron Pavilion.

The Clubhouse Pavilion (Bar, Cafe & Restaurant areas) will be dedicated to the Optis from this time, allowing them to celebrate their absolutely exceptional performances in the sport over the last week comfortably surrounded by friends and family.

For those members, guests and non-regatta visitors who want to soak in the active, eventful Squadron atmosphere tomorrow afternoon, the Boardwalk Stall & Foyer Bar will be serving beverages and limited food options available until 1600. Members who are interested in enjoy beverages on the night can do so at the Boardwalk or Foyer Bars, where a select beverage menu and some seating will be available.  Owing to the volume of this event, the Squadron’s hospitality services will be at capacity and as such we are unable to offer our already altered catering options for the night of the 10th.

The Squadron will return to regular trade at 0700 on Thursday 11 January for breakfast!

The Manly Summer of Sailing is a momentous time in the Squadron’s history and there really is nothing better than seeing the youth sailors of today relish in their achievements, the achievements of their peers, and in our sport. We’re honoured to be hosting this major event, and facilitating national competition in the sport.

Please don’t hesitate to contact the Squadron for more information: 3396 8666 or reception@rqys.com.au
