March 08, 2018

We’ve enjoyed another successful year here at the Squadron in 2017/2018, with consistent growth in our membership and a positive trend of members transferring to on-water and / or full categories. This demonstrates our commitment to supporting our membership community and facilitating on-water participation through a diversity of pathways. Our Sailing Academy has also seen consistent growth in enrolments, as well as a diversification of program offerings. The introduction of new on-water, combination on-shore and on-water, and greater community initiatives in this year, and those still in development for the coming year, will also work toward improving the diversity of our participation pathways for both youth and adults.

Coming away from an exceptional summer in the sport, we have an equally big year to look forward to. Our sailing calendar is marked by two major sailing events this year – the Brisbane to Noumea Race & Rally in June and the 2018 Etchells World Championships in October; complimented by our signature annual events such as the Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race and Musto Queensland Youth Week will see our sailors competing through winter. We also have a variety of social events and live entertainment performances from groups like of The Black Sorrows in May for our members and guests to enjoy. We look forward to another great year at RQYS.
